This material consists of a composite foam core coated with wood fiber veneer. The faces may look and feel like paper but they last longer. The material comes in all white (core and coating) or all black options.

You also have the following thickness choices: 3/16" (0.188"), 1/2" (0.5") and 1”.

Cutting Options for Custom Gator Board Signs

Square/Rectangle Cut

With 90° pointed angles, this is the standard option in our industry and by far the most popular choice among customers.

Rounded Cut

Having the same right angles as the square/rectangle cut, this one comes with smooth rounded corners at ¼”-½” radius.

Outline Cut

Design your board in whatever shape you like and choose this option so we cut it in that exact shape. Kindly bear in mind that if your design includes two pieces that are meant to be separated, you should order two separate boards. If the two pieces are in the same design, they will be connected to each other.

Overline Cut

This option is custom-shaped like the outline cut, but it adds an extra ¼”-½” border. The border will have the original color of the material you’ve chosen. Remember that the border thickness will be included in the board’s overall dimensions and not added to the original size you chose. If you want custom borders or if you want them in a color other than the basic black or white coat, you should include that border in the design and opt for outline cutting instead.

Is gator board printing suitable for outdoor use?

It’s not recommended to use custom gator board signs outdoors. We use UV-resistant inks for gator board printing but the material itself can’t withstand harsh weather conditions for a long period of time. Short term outdoor usage in mild weather should be fine. We also offer other alternatives suited to outdoor usage such as corrugated plastic signs.

How do foam and gator board signs differ?

The outer layer is what makes these two materials different. While the former is coated with paper, the latter is coated with wood fiber veneer.

Are gator board signs waterproof?

This medium is made of solid foam core sandwiched between two wood fiber veneers. These rigid materials make the product resistant to moisture but not completely waterproof.
