What are backlit decals?

A custom backlit decal is a translucent vinyl graphic that lets light pass through it. Backlit decals are made of a see-through material that glows when illuminated from behind. They're applied to transparent surfaces such as acrylic, Lexan, or glass, with lighting placed behind them to illuminate the designs.

How thick is the product?

Our backlit decals are 3 mil thick.

How much does a backlit decal weigh?

Backlit decals have a weight of 0.065 lbs/ft², while an acrylic face weighs 0.72 lbs/ft² and a Lexan face weighs approximately 1.2 lbs/ft².

Can you print the product in a double-sided option?

No. The basic function of this product requires a backing light to highlight one print design.

Do backlit decals come with lights?

No, backlit decals do not include lighting systems. We provide the translucent vinyl decals only, not complete backlit signs. However, you can easily create your own custom backlit sign by placing LED or other light sources behind the transparent surface on which you apply the decal.

Are backlit decals visible at night?

Backlit decals need lighting to be visible, and without it, they appear faded. Backlighting keeps them visible day and night.

Will translucent vinyl damage the window?

No, it won't. The decal can be removed whenever you want to replace it with a new one, without leaving residue or harming the surface. Keep in mind that removed decals cannot be reapplied.

Are backlit signs durable?

Yes, backlit decals are durable and can last over three years with proper care. Backlit signage printing is done with UV inks that resist sun damage and fading. For extra protection, you can add lamination to make the surface scratch-resistant and further extend its lifespan. The UV ink-curing process when printing backlit signs ensures your colors remain vivid for a long time.

Do you offer lamination?

Lamination adds a thin protective layer to your backlit decals. It makes them scratch-resistant and more durable. We offer three lamination options:

• Glossy Lamination: Provides a shiny finish that makes your image pop. A great choice for outdoor decals or decals with vibrant graphics.
• Matte Lamination: Reduces glare and improves legibility. Choose this option if your image is text-heavy or you want to exude sophistication.
• Anti-Graffiti Lamination: Repels paint and markers, preventing permanent damage to your decal. Choose this option if the area around your decal is prone to graffiti.

What material do you use to print backlit signs?

We print our decals on translucent sign vinyl. This material allows light to pass through for bright illumination, day or night. It can be applied to surfaces such as acrylic, Lexan, and glass.

Can the colors match my brand's specific colors?

Yes, we can match your brand's specific colors with our advanced printing technology and color management system. Simply provide your CMYK color codes during the design process, and we'll make sure your backlit decals maintain perfect brand consistency. We offer this service for all of our custom signs.

Can I reapply my decals?

No, you cannot. Once you remove your decal after installation, the adhesive will lose its strength.

How should I maintain backlit signs?

Clean the surface often with a soft, microfiber cloth and mild soap to remove dust and dirt. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Check your lighting system periodically to ensure bulbs or LED strips are functioning. For outdoor backlit business signs, inspect the weatherproof casing.
