A sandwich board, also known as an A-frame sign, is a portable, two-sided A-frame display often placed outside a business. Custom sandwich board signs are a classic and powerful tool for business advertising and can help you get your message across in high-traffic areas. Built with a foldable A-frame structure, these signage options are ideal for street-level advertising, sidewalk messaging, and daily promotions. Printing Material and Technology

The graphic sheet on the standard sandwich board is made of adhesive vinyl. You can peel it off and replace it when you want to update your design. For the changeable a-frame signage, the inserts are made from corrugated plastic, but you can also use any rigid material up to 3/16” thick. Be sure to choose replacement inserts in the 24”x36” size to guarantee a proper fit.

For a-frame sign printing, we use high-quality UV inks. The graphics won’t fade over time, not even under direct sunlight. The printed surface becomes matte while the unprinted sections retain the material’s initial look. 

You can easily design and print custom sandwich board signs with our online design tool. Personalize our professional templates and include design elements you need to promote your business. By default, both displays will be printed with the same design. To order boards that have different images on either face or a board with only one side printed, you’ll need to contact our customer support team. Types of Sandwich Boards

Our sandwich board signs come in two styles: standard and quick-change. Both types feature a display area of 24” x 36”.
  • Standard Sandwich Boards: Our regular sandwich sign option consists of white and black plastic. When you opt for this type, the image is printed on vinyl material that’s stuck to the frame after printing. You’re free to switch designs whenever you desire by peeling off the vinyl face and replacing it with the new one. The black or white sandwich board sign as a whole measures 26”x46”. The graphics displayed on it however, are 24”x36”. This option weighs 18.5 lbs. These frames have empty columns within them which can be filled with sand to make them more stable. This will add around 10 lbs to its overall weight. The frame has locking hinges to prevent the product from opening wider than intended.

  • Quick-Change Boards: We have quick-change sandwich sign stands in two colors: white and black. The designs are printed on a corrugated plastic material and inserted into the frames. The latter have so-called “stay tabs” that don’t allow the rigid material to fall off. As the name implies, this option allows you to change displays in a matter of seconds by pulling the old ones out of place and sliding new graphics in. Quick-change sandwich board signs measure 27”x47”. The size of the printed surfaces is 24”x36”. These products weigh 20 lbs and have ballasting columns which can hold about 10 lbs of sand. The locked hinges prevent the frame from opening more than it’s supposed to.

Replaceable Inserts for Sandwich Board Signs

One of the biggest benefits of sandwich board signs is that you can easily update the display without replacing the whole structure. For a standard sandwich sign, just order new vinyl graphics and apply them to the sign surface. They won’t leave any residue after removal but you can’t reuse the same face once removed. Be sure to order new faces in the 24”x36” size. Premium quick-change sidewalk sandwich board signs further facilitate changing the inserts.
Our premium quick-change sandwich boards make swapping inserts even easier. You can use a PVC sign or other rigid material to replace them. Make sure the board you choose is 3/16" thick or thinner. The size should be 24”x36”. Whenever you purchase two or more pieces of the same product, you become eligible for special discounts!

Sandwich Board Sign Lamination

We offer lamination for this product to guarantee extra protection and functionality. Lamination is applied to the printable material, regardless if it’s the adhesive or insert type. The chassis won’t be laminated in any case.
  • Dry Erase Lamination: Doubles as protection and a rewritable surface. Write with a temporary marker and erase with a damp cloth or alcohol solution. Avoid abrasive cleaners. Adds a glossy finish to your sandwich board.
  • Glossy Lamination: Enhances your display’s shine and shields it from wear. Similar in appearance to dry-erase lamination, but the surface is not rewritable with temporary markers.
  • Matte Lamination: Creates a glare-free finish and protects your board from scratches and fading. Recommended if you want the unprinted areas to match the matte look of the printed sections.

You have two main choices for A-frame graphics: for a permanent design, order an adhesive vinyl face to stick directly onto the board. For an interchangeable display, choose a rigid material like corrugated plastic, which easily slides in and out of the frame.

How to take care of custom A-Frame signs?

Use mild soap and a soft cloth to clean your A-frame sign and avoid abrasive chemicals. When used outdoors, ensure the frame is weighted with sand or water to prevent tipping in the wind. Bring the sign inside during severe weather or periods of non-use. 

Store both the frame and the graphic inserts clean, dry, and flat in a cool area to prevent warping and maximize the sign's vibrant lifespan.
